My name is Kina Bogdanova, I am a painter and expert in mosaic art, with more than 20 years of experience.
I was born in Bulgaria, in Varna, a nice town near the Black Sea. Since I was a child, a strong passion for the arts in general used to influence my life. Thanks to my parents, who were both professional artists, I inherited this special passion and began appreciate the true work of art.
My studies enabled me to know different territories, and to be introduced into various academic fields until the practice of the laboratory.
At first, I studied “Textiles” at the School of Art in Sofia; here I got my diploma in 1992. Then, since I wanted to become a teacher,I decided to study into the University “Kliment Ohridski” in Sofia, where I got my degree in Pedagogy of Visual Art.
For some years I taught History of Art at different high schools in Sofia.
I have always loved teaching, but beside this, my passion for painting has never left me; it has helped me to define my style and my expressive language, which is now easily recognizable in all my works.
In 2002 my life changed and I decided to move to Italy. From that time on, that sort of path outlined for a long time has become viable; suddenly everything took the right direction in a clear way, like a dream that becomes reality. I straight away began to take part in painting contests and to show my pictures in personal and collective exhibitions.
I got many acknowledgements, reviews and criticisms, which helped me in improving my work and in being better and better introduced to the Italian cultural world.
As I came to live near Ravenna, I had the opportunity to see the ancient byzantine mosaics, which before I could admire only on my school books. Analyzing closely the mosaics, was a real discovery for me and brought me to enthusiastically practice the mosaic art. So I attended the Accademy of Fine Arts in Ravenna and after two years I got my degree in mosaic art.
The contemporary mosaic art has also fascinated me, and today I can say it is my real passion together with painting. Thanks to my experience, after having collaborated with some of the most prestigious workshops in Ravenna, I have discovered the beauty and technical knowledge that lives behind this ancient manual art.
This is my life till now.
Sometimes when I think about all that has happened, it seems to me as path dreamed and successful. Other times it seems like a natural growth of a baby-girl who drew early under her architect father’s desk.
